In this review, Steve Sutcliffe tests two of the hottest on road and track. First up is the Hyundai Kona N, which sources its drivetrain from the company’s first hot hatch, the i30 N. That means it packs a 276bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and the Korean manufacturer has kitted it out with plenty of clever electronics and a bespoke suspension set-up to help deliver what’s promised to be an entertaining drive. But can it usurp one of our practical performance favourites, the Ford Puma ST? Utilising running gear from the excellent Fiesta ST, Ford has transplanted that car’s willing, playful nature into a more practical crossover body.
